1 more

My last radiation treatment is tomorrow. 1 more and then Lord willing I am done with treatments.
Thanks to everyone on this blog for cheering me on from the sidelines. It has been a blessing to read your words of encouragement throughout our journey.
Lara and I are excited for what the Lord has ready for us. We don't know exactly what it is yet but we are working on listening to His voice.

Congratulations, Luke. You did it!

You’ve gone through 12-rounds of chemo, 20-something hits of radiation, Lord knows how many meds, and still seem to have maintained your strong faith & positive attitude. I’m not sure I could be as strong.

We should be thanking you for sharing your story with us and allowing us to cheer you on from the sidelines. I do find lately that when I see a beautiful sunset or sunrise, I think of your earlier blog and remind myself to stop and watch for a bit. Refreshes the spirit, somewhat, doesn’t it?

After this past “rollercoaster” of a year, I pray that the Lord provides you & Lara with a smooth road for a while. That, and clean scans! :-)

Luke, I guess this makes tonight your New Year's eve. May your New Year be the happiest healthiest yet and may your days of coping with cancer and its treatment be completely over once and for all after tomorrow. HAPPY NEW YEAR LUKE!! YOU ROCK!!

Your kind and gentle spirit are so touching and refreshing Luke. I'm in the middle of watching the rerun of Season 7 AI on cable (I missed the original). You are so talented and a joy to watch perform! God is wonderful and He's made perfect in any situation, especially our struggles. There is the place you can share about God's wonder and awesomeness. Take care and best of health to you and your wife in 2009 and forward!

dear heart....

an end and a beginning, all in one day. funny how it works like that, sometimes.

you've fought the good fight and finished THAT course, and gloria in excelsis deo for all that. may your cure be permanent, your insight keen, your strength renewed and your joy abundant.

rejoice, rest up, the path will be clear when the time comes for all to unfold.

meanwhile, keep us posted once in a while, OK? there is more to your story than this cancer deal, of this I am certain.

I probably should have posted 6 months ago, but better late than never. My Dad was diagnosed with stage 3 Lymphoma a year and a half ago. He has been on a macrobiotic diet for many many years, though due to medications he was on his immune system was weakened and this was the result. Against the advice of doctors, even macrobiotic counselors, he refused to do chemo in favor of a strict macrobiotic diet. Shocking the doctors, he's almost completely cured today. As you may know, very often after chemo, especially with this type of cancer, the cancer returns in some other form - I really hope that doesn't happen, but I would encourage you to start now looking into a diet like this. It's one of my resolutions this year to spread the gospel, as it were, about the ills of prescribed medications and the benefits of eating right. I really hope you'll look into this further. Good luck and good health!

Hey Luke,I'm very pleased that you are doing well and that you had a nice christmas and new years. I'm not sure if you remember but I'm Heather, I interviewed you at BBCHS and wrote the article. Mark said that he was going to send you a copy and I hope you got it and enjoyed it. I certainly enjoyed hanging out with you and asking questions, some sort of random :) but I'm glad you are happy and healthy and God Bless!

Congrats on your last treatment! Praying it really is your last one and that the Lord has only excellent health for you from now on!!!
Our three year old daughter lifts you in prayer each week in Sunday School at CC C'ville. Whenever we ask who or what she wants to pray for at night during family prayer time, she says "Thank You God for this day and bless Luke Menard and make him not be sick any mroe in Jesus' name Amen." She is thrilled when we tell her that her prayers are being answered and that you are being healed.
