Back in Nashville

Made it to Nashville again and I will be co writing for the next couple days. It was a beautiful drive all the way here from Indiana and I had forgotten almost the whole trip that I had cancer. Anything to get my mind of this crazy disease is a blessing. I am so excited to co-write tomorrow because music has been the best escape for me over the past few months. I can be much more creative without Simon Cowell breathing down my neck.
I will only be able to spend a few days in Nashville this week because my Grandma Arletta Menard passed away earlier today. I am heading to Illinois for the funeral after I work a little here in Nashville. I will be thinking of her all day the next 2 days while I am writing songs. She will be my inspiration this week for sure. She was diagnosed with cancer 2 weeks after I was diagnosed and she fought to the end. Unfortunately her cancer was much more worse than mine. She left behind a legacy.....14 children, 50 something grandchildren and lessons and love to last an eternity.

Luke, I'm so sorry to hear about your Grandma. My prayers & sincere condolences to you and your entire family. With all those kids & grandkids, that must have been a (noisy) house full of love. And, how proud she must have been of all of you.

I hope you have a good productive songwriting session this week. I'm glad you've been able to grasp those moments to put your cancer out of mind for a bit. That's important for your overall recovery.

God Bless

Luke,
First let me pass on condolences from the depths of my soul on the passing of your grandmother. Grandparents are such a blessing and when they pass they leave such a hole in a family structure and identy of where your family came from and it's history.

Secondly, I was diagnosised with cancer while pregnant with my son and months after my father had also been diagnosised with cancer. Unfortunately my son was born without ever meeting his grandfather as my father passed away before he was born. As for myself - I've been fighting passionately for my survival. I want to see my son grow up. I want to teach him so many things about his Irish hertiage and my family history. I know you feel blessed that GOD has granted the serenity bestowed on you to get thru this trial in life. I know I do. I love coming here and reading your posts. The comments you recieve give me hope that if I pass leaving my son behind at a young age that this community might just pull together and not leave him behind unnoticed. You know how Crawfordsville is so knit close.

Take care my friend and much blessings to you, to your family, and to your fight and love for life.

Blessings
Jojo

Luke,

I am sorry to hear for the loss of your Grandma. It sounds like she left behind a wonderful legacy and family that will carry on for many generations. Unfortunately, my Grandma passed away from Lupus when I was only 8 so I never really got to know her well. I hope that her love and kindness will carry you through at this tough time.

I've been following the news of your diagnosis almost daily. I remember working with you at the coffee shop at Millikin, watching you perform on campus and again seeing you perform in Downer's Grove over a year ago. Your passion and musical gift inspire me as do your posts about how you are conducting your life through this diagnosis. Most of all, you inspire me not to give up even when faced with adversity. I can't wait to hear your album when it's done.

God Bless,
Beth

Hey Luke,

I'm very sorry to hear about your grandma passing away. I lost one of my grandfathers to cancer when I was much younger, and in October, my grandmother passed away. It's hard, but as you said, it's always an inspiration to write about people who touched your life in such great ways.

I hope you have a ton of fun songwriting, and are able to have a clear mind and get a lot done! That comment about Simon breathing down your neck made me giggle! =]

Continually thinking of you!

I'm so sorry about the loss of your Grandma. She will always be with you in your inspiration, songs, family members, and the lessons and love you've had from her throughout your life.

It's good to know you have such a love and appreciation for your family. Not everyone is that way.

I hope your songwriting goes well this week. You can definitely be more creative without Simon, haha.

Wishing you all the best.
